portion of Texas was annexxed and for 2 years there was conflict between the US/Mexico and various other groups within Texas and Mexico. Ultimately 18.25 million was paid to Mexico who ceded compelte control of Texas to the US government and set the states boundaries at the rio grande. Compromise of 1850 ceded the states claims of various portions of land from New Mexico,Colorado,Kansas,Oklahoma and Wyoming to the US and set the states boundaries as they currently are all in return for the US gov taking $10,000,000 of the states debt.

So yes, Texas was annexed but ultimately was lawfully purchased by the US goverment, not "stolen" like many claim.

Let's not forget Texas was annexed, but not from Mexico. It was it's own country at that time. Texas didn't want to be part of Mexico, which is why Texas rebelled and suceded. Which is why America annexed Texas.

That's why its called the Lone Star State. Because it was once the only State in the Republic of Texas.

It my home State. I never even as a kid could understand the logic of people saying Texas was taken from Mexico. So Mexicans have every right to cross the border to go there.

Without getting into the whole crossing the border issue. The truth is Mexicans don't cross the border because there's something about the territory of Texas. They cross that border because its America on the other side.
