Re: Video From Patrick Crusius & The El Paso Walmart Shooting
I lean liberal but pro-gun and I can but agree with you. Where were they, the people who carry their guns on their shopping outings? If I'd been there I woulda ducked into position and taken aim at that prick, knocked him out with one shot to the head. i feel so bad for what happened to these people. Something's gotta change but I'm not sure what.

Re: Video From Patrick Crusius & The El Paso Walmart Shooting
this "my country is being invaded" shit really gets me,seems to me in the 1800s a shitload of white folk liked to kill any native american they saw,and the white man also started a war with mexico and took their land from them..yup im white too...and one of my relatives was the second in command in the Pequot indian war (masiqure)..anyway...no im not a bleeding liberal, but i still dont get how a contry that was taken by force is all ours....besides,most of the fuckin white kids wont work labor jobs,so yeah they hire illegals to do the shit jobs so our privlaged asses can go to college..as you can see i didnt go to college,i barely made it out of high school, but i worked my ass off, plumber and a firefighter ,doing both many years,my own fuckin nephew is 37 and wants more than 50 bucks an hour to fix computers...he doesnt work much

Re: Video From Patrick Crusius & The El Paso Walmart Shooting
Well, to be fair, and as you stated, when white men showed up to this land. They weren't really welcomed. In some cases, as long as white folks stayed away from native areas, which were vast, they were left alone. But for the most part, natives felt "invaded". And didn't want white people on their lands. So, as was the times, it was taken from them by force. Because white men had diseases that killed hundreds of thousands of natives. And had more advanced weapons and methods of war. So you kinda make your own counter argument. Yes, white people immigrated here. But they weren't welcomed, and now refuse to treat immigrants today how their ancestors were treated. Wars were fought, many tens of thousands of "settlers" died to make this country. To take this land. Do you think those wars were fought, all those lives sacrificed, so the country would turn around and say. "This is everyone's country, everyone is welcome to come here." It seems to me, if that was the point, why fight a war? And if America didn't win the Texas area. Then it would be Mexico today. And nothing would be different, Because then Oklahoma would be a border state, and Mexicans would still be trying to get to America. Because it's not Texas the land they are coming for. Its America, the economy, the Nation of America they are coming for. And believe it or not. America can't withstand having open borders. There's so much more to a nation than just a name and lines on a map. Sure, America needs cheap laborers. But we don't need 20 million of them. Because we are a free market, capitalist nation. Opening the borders would create a huge supply over demand in so many industries. Driving down the pay of so many Americans. Basically making the middle class, lower and upper middle class, extinct. People would either be wealthy, or poor. That what open borders would do in a matter of a decade. And that just 1 aspect of many downsides. |

Re: Video From Patrick Crusius & The El Paso Walmart Shooting
I'm reading Ishi in Two Worlds right now. The first half was really difficult to get through because it chronicles how Ishi's entire people, the Yahi of Northern California, were systematically wiped out during the late 1800s just for being in the way. Men, women, children, the elderly, just fucking massacred in their villages, hiding in caves, it didn't matter. The white pioneers in CA gold country who opposed the genocide of their Indian friends, neighbors, and employees were outnumbered and thus powerless. Nowadays the perp is a lone wolf rather than a vigilante group, he has an AK-47, and there's enough law enforcement in place to hold him accountable, but clearly that part of the U.S. has never gone away. |

Re: Video From Patrick Crusius & The El Paso Walmart Shooting
It was interesting to read the manifesto. It seems there's always some noble sounding reason to murder people. It's the same with every war. Maybe we're just a fucked up, violent species and all this ideological bullshit is just a coating on top of the brutality that is in our genes.
