Vic Morrow's Death on The Set Of The Twilight Zone
Actor Vic Morrow tragically died on the set of "Twilight Zone: The Movie" in a helicopter crash on July 23, 1982. The accident occurred during the early hours, around 2:30 a.m., while filming a segment directed by John Landis at Indian Dunes in Valencia, California. Morrow, alongside child actors Myca Dinh Le, aged seven, and Renee Shin-Yi Chen, aged six, were killed when a helicopter being used in the scene crashed. The scene involved Morrow’s character carrying two children across a river while being pursued by soldiers. The accident also resulted in injuries to six other passengers on the helicopter. This tragic incident, which occurred during the making of a feature-length adaptation of the "Twilight Zone" TV series, led to a significant legal aftermath. A $200 million damage suit was filed against the film's production company, Warner Brothers. The deaths of Morrow and the two children prompted a reevaluation of safety protocols and procedures on film sets, leading to changes in how hazardous scenes are conducted and monitored in the industry. Thanks, this is actually a DocRe, exclusive. I scoured the net for every scrap of footage on the incident, (which never had sound) I spliced them all together and laid The Doors music over it for us. |

It really wasn't a freak accident, the chopper pilot had been warning Landis that the explosions were too big and wreaking havoc with his ability to fly. He felt that something would happen if they continued filming like that, Landis' response was, 'You haven't seen nothing yet'.  |
