I was surprised to see that DR has no thread on this historic assassination attempt. If anybody has clean file footage of the shooting without edits or voice overs, please post up. Otherwise, here are 2 video excerpts that I pulled from documentaries.

The final pic shows 3 victims down on the sidewalk, front to back, the ss agent, the cop and press secretary. Pic2, with Reagan waving, includes all 4 vics 1-2 seconds prior to the shooting. Shooter John Hinckley was standing obscured in the crowd of people just beyond the rearmost cop in Pic2, who was the cop who was shot. Note that in Pic2, nobody on the pictured security team is looking at that crowd of people. Although it may be BS, a biography said that Hinckey stood in the same crowd at Reagan's arrival and noticed that the cops looked at Reagan, not the crowd, when Reagan walked by. That observation helped embolden Hinckley to go through with the shooting upon Reagan's departure.

Vid2 demonstrates how fast that Hinckley fired off 6 shots from his revolver.
