Its hard to imagine why someone would jump knowing that there was no chance in surviving the fall. I read somewhere that the reason they do is because it is the one and only last choice they have for survival. Stay and be burned to death for sure or jump and take the chances or die quickly. So there is a split of two groups of jumpers. Those who jump to end it quickly and painlessly and those who still think this is the last effort I can make to save my life. No matter how slim the odds. I for one would definitely jump.

The physical need to inhale fresh air is what made them jump. I doubt any jumper believed they could survive an 80 story fall.

The second photo I don't think is from 911. I was there that day doing deliveries and saw first hand people exploding like water balloons when they hit the ground, there was nothing left of them at all. And it was so fucking loud like you cant believe just like an explosion because it WAS an explosion but what do you expect when they were hitting cement at 140 mph
