Actually that was a group of 'Men' that did that, and with the right prep and motive, the men did a lot of damage. However, a single guy acting alone with a knife would not have been able to kill as many. Guns are designed to kill efficiently, especially machine guns. hence why he had over a dozen in that room. to kill as many, as fast and as indiscriminately as possible.

Making a bump-stock is much easier than milling a fully-automatic weapon. With 3D printed parts... or pipes and springs... wow ...
