But in any case, I did not state that an assailant is never taken out by someone with a gun - it can/does happen, I even posted a link with a list....but it's incredibly rare. What is far less rare are the instances where the assailant killed the people he wanted to kill until taken out by police (or by suicide due to the threat of capture).

Once again, it is rare that a mass shooter is taken down by a member of the public!

In specific instances I can see how arming a particular vetted civilian might help them (if we deem guns necessary), but arming people en mass is a recipe for disaster (mass shootings, suicide, accidents, children hurting themselves)...as you find out every day! A singular specific person might be mentally equipped to deal with a guns, society is not!

Society is reckless as a collective...hence why more significant weapons are not permitted - Give a person a gun and he/she might be fine. Give society guns and there will be bloodshed!

You have an opinion, you're not the end all tell all.

99% of the time when someone pulls out a gun and starts shooting there are no "trained officers" there. Usually the first few minutes, maybe even several minutes, you're on your own.

The instance I'm talking about happened i believe at a lawn mower factory in Kansas. It's not conjecture it's easily found online.

You're obviously a person who believes your safety, your families safety is a trained officers responsibility. I don't, i feel its my responsibility. I carry a weapon almost everywhere i go. Unless where I'm going doesn't permit weapons. I follow the law.

I think is idiotic to say having some armed citizens isn't going to save lives in the event of a shooter situation.

Just because it's rare. Lets look at why it's rare. Possibly it's rare because a shooter picks targets that are likely not armed. Or they hide 30 floors up in the air. Movie theater. No guns allowed. Church, no guns allowed. School, no guns allowed. Workplace, no guns allowed.

Most mass shootings take place in places where citizens aren't allowed to carry. So that's why it's rare for a citizen to intercept a shooter.
