Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
So basically everyone NEEDS to own guns because criminals don't obey laws and will have guns either way, but everyone is supposed to obey the law that says that an assault rifle can't be converted to be fully automatic? Anyway, it's just stupid that regular people are allowed to own assault rifles. For what? People need an AR-15 to stop a burglar? |

The US had a ban on assault rifles once. The murder per capita was 10.5 for that entire decade, and dropped dramatically the more lax gun laws became.

Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
"Assault rifles" are restricted under the 1934 act. The AR-15 is not an assault rifle. And yes, many burglars wear body armor, which resists common handgun rounds. Shotgun slugs will merely knock the wind out of them. Rifle calibers are all that can stop an assailant wearing body armor. Yes, they are necessary. Full-auto is not necessarily required in the home-defense situation. But that is beyond the scope of the current discussion. Joe Six-pack with an AR-15 does not have a fully-automatic rifle (nor can it be converted to be as such.) Your point is moot. |

Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
AR-15's are super fantastic for women, small guys, and teens. The reason being the design of AR-15's REALLY reduce recoil and improve accuracy over shotguns and even handguns. So, yes, I'd recommend AR-15's for some home defense.

I'm really disappointed in the group on this one where the fuck are the pics and videos instead of the common CNN comment arguing bullshit go to to Huffington Post if you want to waste a whole thread on political trash.

The idea that withdrawing the right to bear arms would not reduce the amount of criminal activity that was armed, baffles me.

Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
It is incredibly difficult to legally obtain a fully automatic firearm. To start with, fully automatic firearms generally start at $5,000 for something like a SMG (MAC-10 for example). A transferable (legal to own) M-16 generally runs $15,000. Much more in depth background check. Though you can modify firearms to become fully automatic, the penalty is huge. 10 years in federal pen + a $200,000 fine per firearm. Except for criminals and incredibly stupid people, the punishment generally makes people think twice. From what I can tell, it sounds like the piece of shit used an AK-47 style weapon that was not fully automatic but was equipped with a crank type trigger that can somewhat simulate automatic fire. A registered democrat committing a mass murder at an event where the vast majority of attendees are republicans/trump supporters. Definitely doesn't sound polltically motivated. Jedi` Gunsmith by trade. |
