Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
Not much training is required to shoot someone at conversational range. Given that the cop was off-duty, then technically he *was* a civilian with a gun at that particular point in time. It's not like he had to be called and then dispatched to the scene while people waited for him to show up, if he was already at the mall on his own time. That off-duty officer was still able to neutralize the threat before "the cops" got there, and that illustrates the point. The point isn't to be a hero. The point is to be able to defend yourself or others when law enforcement isn't there. The same could apply to mass shooting situations, but usually the problem there is the crowd. Having a gun wouldn't have nevessarily helped during the Aurora or Vegas shootings, for example, but it could have helped at Sandy Hook or Virginia Tech. And of course, that's not counting all of the times that gun owners have defended themselves against your average everyday criminals. I've been put into that situation before, and the cops were simply one solution to the problem. But if my front door hadn't been so strong, they wouldn't have had the time to get there, in which case me and my shotgun would have had to have solved the situation instead. And that was in a large metropolitan area where police response times are nowhere near as long as they'd be out in the sticks. |

For those who care about facts, "effective range" refers to the accuracy of the weapon at a certain distance. It does not mean the lethality of a round lessens at a certain distance. So, if a weapon has an effective range of 800 ft, that means you can accurately hit an object the size of car at that range 50% of the time based on the weapons design, tolerances, and round.

I believe 5.56 can easily travel 1800 feet but not "effectively" as ferris stated this guy was spraying people he just needed the bullets to get there interesting he had the math worked out on the paper in the room as well.

I had to stop watching when I saw her. Call me a pussy if you want, but she's about the same age as my daughter. I'll try to watch it again later. I don't like to let shock or emotion stop me from watching stuff here, but now is not the time. RIP to all the victims who lost their lives. |

OMG STFU. Seriously STFU. Enough with this conspiracy bullshit. I can't stand it anymore. Shooting lasted only 10mins. Aside from the fact in the panic no one had the presence of mind to do that considering everyone was still trying to figure out who/where it was coming from, turning the lights off would have helped the shooter by making it harder for people to see obstacles as they tried to flee. No enough with the stupid conspiracy. Just stop.

That doesnt discount the fact that nobody should ever have to die because some asshole has a bad day, or is commanded by god, or has a mental illness, and then decides to pick up something that can waste 500 human lives in 10 minutes. These stupid guns should just be banned plain and simple.
