Some people determined to kill, will select the most accessible weapon that will do most harm...we should ensure they have the least amount of choice, not the most. You want to ARM potential assailants????

They used the car to murder, and the knife to multiply fear in the minds of the paranoid....but they didn't fully succeed with the knife and decided to have a chat with a few passers by instead. Us Brits - we chat to small time terrorists and just shuffle past them. It seems they were not worthy of fear.

You fear them, and they get some of what they desire. You kill them - they become a cause célèbre for others.

I justify prison for those who attempt or plan harm to others...no matter the religion, gender, sexual orientation, race or other descriptor.

I justify prison for those who encourage real violence via their communication...no matter the religion, gender, sexual orientation, race or other descriptor.

I'm not in favour of the death penalty, but neither would I defend someone who reached that fate by virtue of proven murder or serious assault (sexual or otherwise)...no matter the religion, gender, sexual orientation, race or other descriptor.
