Because sometimes the bad guys have weaponry superior to that of standard issue police equipment. After 22 years in law enforcement I've encountered one shithead, only one who fit the standard libtard description of the hyperaggressive killer cop. He was fired. Are they out there? Of course. There are defective people everywhere and some wear badges. But the obvious jumping to conclusions without being exposed to all the evidence is tiresome. Believe it or not, video does not tell the entire truth. It must be combined with possible prior knowledge of a particular subjects actions as well as the cops own experience. No cop I know starts his shift itching to kill someone. They want to go home first and foremost. Look up the Rebello/Dalton Smith case from Hofstra NY and see what I mean. A cop responded to a home invasion and was confronted with a parolee who had a girl in a headlock then turned his pistol on the cop who fired and accidentally hit the girl with the bullet that first went through the bad guy. Cop haters and libtards are screaming for murder charges. NOBODY knows what intentions a subject has and action beats reaction every time. We are not obligated to be moving targets sorry folks. No 2 shootings are exactly alike and cannot be judged by anyone who was not even friggin there!

Anyone living in the US should be paying close attention to this. Deadly force should be an absolute last resort, not the default for "non compliance". How many innocents have been shot like this? What about the guy that had his headphones in so couldn't hear the commands and was shot dead for it?

What about people with autism having a meltdown or those with mental health problems or learning difficulties? They can't "comply".

So we should be like other countries? You have no clue. Life is not as you hear about on college campuses or MSLSD. To disarm the sheepdog is to embolden the wolves to have their way with the sheep. It takes far less time for a seemingly confused subject to turn a concealed weapon on you than for you to defend yourself. Moving targets? Six officers with weapons drawn versus one unarmed man crawling on the floor with his face in the carpet and then one trigger happy dick shoots the unarmed crawling man while the crying man is pleading "please don't shoot me". What fairy tale cop stories are you reading?

This was an unjustified use of lethal force.

No Mesa policeman or police association, or police code of brothers or any of that will change the fact this was deemed second degree murder. Will he be convicted ? For justice sake, I hope they lock him away for as long as possible. He should never have access to weapons again.
