by far the most horrible way to go. And the second worst vehicle accident I have ever seen. Years ago on an L.A. fwy, I sat in traffic at a stand still for 3 hrs. Slowly we were trickled off an exit passing the horror. I saw a mass of tangled vehicles & counted 8 bodies that were covered up & a good distance from the wreckage.
Got the details when i saw the news: Open bed small pickup truck. Male driver w/preg. wife & sm child between them. There were 5 young children in the open bed with zero restraints. The driver pulled over & stopped along side of fwy for pee break. Same time there was a Drunk driver coming @90 mph directly in their path. Never forget that one. there were no cell phones yet!! Rofl

so while roger was totally more fucked up than paul, paul definitely suffered a lot more given he didn't stop breathing until fire broke out. let's hope he was unconscious although not likely as i believe there was only a little small bruise on his right side head. don't recall reading about any head trauma separate from the burns.

No. There was a *small* amount of soot in his trachea, but not his lungs. Hence he was no longer breathing by the time smoke emitted from the fire. This is indicative of smoke diffusion into an enclosed area due to saturation of smoke. The car caught fire almost immediately. If not knocked unconscious from the initial driver's side impact, certainly from the second passenger side impact. Walker was unconscious *and* not breathing, post impact, which can quickly lead to total oxygen starvation of the brain -- it is a downward spiral from there, commonly fatal if CPR/chest compressions aren't immediately employed. Part of his skull was exposed, no doubt this caused brain damage due to heat. Walker was certainly not aware of anything at all. Did he suffer? That would have required consciousness, which he wasn't.
