It was only a span of a few seconds, from the moment the smoke cleared and Krystle couldn't sit up - she put her arm on the fence, then on her friend - and then the Cowboy Hat Man (Carlos) came and took the fence off of her and then she lost consciousness and had a weak pulse. Yes, she probably bled out from a severed femoral artery, that's my guess. I know it's horrible to see the few seconds that she was alive and suffering, but she WAS still alive when the nurse was working on her... just barely alive, but she was already gone. From start to finish, she probably only suffered a few seconds before she lost consciousness. But those few seconds will be burned into a lot of our memories, I'm sure.

Tsarnaev needs to hang. He needs to have the experience of knowing that he's about to die. That is really the only punishment that is severe enough for him.
