According to the last updates, this would be what happened:

• A member of the band lighted up a 1 $ firework which hit the ceiling that was covered with inflammable insulation foam: the fire started immediately
  
• Another member of the band grabbed a fire estinguisher which failed to work
  
• Many people people headed for the only door available BUT were bounced off by the guards, who thought there was a fight and that some people were trying to flee without paying for drinks
  
• A black-out ensued which, coupled with the presence of the smoke, reduced the visibility to close to zero
  
• There were NO signs indicating the exit
  
• Many people mistook the toilet signs for those for the emergency exit

I hope that the timestamp of the status posted by Michele is incorrect due to some server delay, otherwise it would mean that 50 minutes after the inferno begun, many people were still alive, and god knows what they had to endure: 95% of them died for smoke inhalation, which is NOT a painless way to go at all

Based on first reports, appears to be like the Station nightclub fire in Rhode Island USA, with fireworks igniting acoustic material on stage. Which goes to show, more people should visit gore sites like Documenting Reality to learn to prevent deaths. On DR, we learned of the horrors of flammable acoustic material and indoor fireworks. We also learn to lock our car doors when ******* are about, and carry firearms for protection.

Supposedly, the fireworks used were for outdoor use only!

I'll check it.

One article did state it was posted 50 minutes after the fire started with the time listed as 3:20 AM in a UK article, but, I don't know which time zone they were in.

Michele's post has 5:20 as the time.

The last 5 pictures aren't from Brazil, for sure.
Those one might be from Philippines or somewhere like that.

People didn't get burn like that here, as you can see on the first pictures of the bodies. Most of them died from intoxication.

Some of those are not from Brazil. You can see Thai? on the back of one of the firefighter's shirt.

That's exactly why I hate going to clubs or any other place that is crowded. Not only can you get killed if a fire breaks out, but ANY type of panic like a gunshot or even someone screaming fire can cause a rush for the door with you getting crushed.
