Mariska Hargitay, Jayne's daughter who is a well known actress on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Captain Olivia Benson) said she didn't even remember the crash (obviously since she was 3 years old at the time)and it left a visible scar on her head.

When I was a kid, I knew the man who embalmed Jayne Mansfield's body. He died when I was about 12. I wish he was still around so I could ask him all sorts of questions.

The car still exists, and some collector has it, but it was stored outside for a long time, so is in pretty bad shape. Also, the windshield frame that clipped her noggin has been removed. The seat upholstery is all shot, and the car has rust all over it. It should have been stored inside under a tarp if they were going to keep it. Now it just looks like an old car that was in a crash and has been sitting in a junkyard. Oh, well. |

I remember seeing a rare photo taken at the scene and time of the accident of little 3 year old Mariska being carried away with a neck brace or stabilized on some type of rigid board or device or something. She was conscious and looked so pitiful and fragile  Very sad little photo.
