Re: First Hand Account from Doctor Treating Kelly Thomas in His 2011 Beating
I get where your coming from with the follow the orders no attitude and everything is good. 99.9% of the time i'd agree with you, been there myself and always gave top notch respect, followed directions and never had any issues except for one time I ran into a BAD cop, a few actually. after the cuffs were on and I was in the back of the police cruiser I had an officer come open the door and say "those cuffs look a little tight, let me loosen them up a bit for you." but what he did was grab my hand, gripped tight pushing on my fingers tips like in a fist type gesture one would have if they were getting ready to box and whisper "Tell me were your buddies are at or I'll break your fucking fingers." I spun out of his hold to the other side of the back seat were they proceeded to draw their tasers(after spinning out of his grip he and his partner backed up a step and drew tasers on me, I'm still cuffed by the way) If it weren't for the citizens standing around beginning to yell "hey that isn't neccesary, thats not right, and come guys he is already in cuffs" I don't know what would have happened that day. for years I remembered that officers name, though today I can't remember it, a decade maybe more has passed, for the purpose of making sure he understood his actions have consequences. I was a young hot head and after that day had a few years, 792 days to be exact, to plan out what I was going to do and how I would get it done. I'm never on the 'one bad cop does something wrong so let's go out a kill cops' train, 99.9% of the time those idots kill the good cops and leave us all with more bad cops. Asinine way of thinking and demonstrates extreme lack of critical thinking skills. Probably the same people who protest to defund cops then turn around and call them when they need help. Now if you take a closer look at this department specifically and look at the common complaints from citizens of this county they specifically say the police officers union and quit a few of these cops as well as others not involved in this incident are out of control, abusive beyond justification and that this union protects these assholes allowing them to continue their reign of terror under the guise of a shield. There are bad cops, they do exist but there are far more good cops than bad ones. Now I do believe if Kelly had been 100% compliant he never would have endured the brutality they dished out on him. I posted in the police forum of a brutality involving an officer by the name of Brad Alford and in that case the female officers tried to get him to stop beating this guy with suggestions of alternate ways to gain compliance and those officers ended up reporting his actions leading to his arrest. unfortunately he was acquitted and still has his badge to this day. In my experience, first hand of course, if you give zero attitude answer with yes sir, no sir, yes ma'am, no ma'am, or substitute officer in place of sir or ma'am things go much smoother. |

any person with the power to manipulate your life, from as little an act as taking your freedom to ending your life, gets immediate respect. Takes a real idiot to not understand how serious a situation can be, but go ahead play your hand the way you want to. in other words yes someone with a uniform, badge and a deadly weapon gets my immediate respect, compliance, with a yes sir/no sir/yes ma'am/no ma'am.

Agreed, don't believe I said obligated, so your response is lost on me, but i do agree. Smart is understanding the 'potential' of a situation and making sure everything that is in your power to sway things in a positive direction is done/said. Smart is clearly what you lack, the ability to understand the full scope of a dangerous situation is beyond your comprehension and I hope, for your sake, you never end up putting action into your words for you and your cohorts might not fare as well as could be.
