Dusty Harless Death Photos From Street Fight
The death of Dusty Harless, a former AAU National Wrestling Champion and a well-known surfer and wrestler, occurred in 1996 in San Diego, following a street altercation that involved David Genzler. Harless, 25 at the time, was engaged in a fight that reportedly started when he became offended after Genzler offered his girlfriend, Sky Flanders, a ride and called her "baby" or some other slightly inappropriate term. Harless pinned Genzler to the ground, and Scott Davis, an associate of Harless, joined the fight by kicking Genzler. In response, Genzler pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Harless. Genzler, then a 25-year-old finance student at San Diego State University, was initially convicted of second-degree murder for the stabbing death of Harless. During the first trial, the blood evidence suggested that Harless and Genzler were face to face when the stabbing occurred. However, Genzler's defense maintained that Harless had him pinned face to the ground during the altercation. The law allows for self-defense when there is a reasonable belief of imminent danger, and the force used is no more than necessary. At a retrial in August 2000, new evidence was presented, including a forensic animation that showed how Harless was stabbed and how his blood fell on Genzler's shirt. A wrestling coach testified, supporting Genzler's account of how he was pinned, which matched a trained wrestler's technique. The retrial jury acquitted Genzler of murder but convicted him of the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to six years in prison, most of which he had already served, and was released in March 2001. The night of the stabbing, Flanders initially told police that Harless had pinned Genzler to the ground and that she thought Genzler had stabbed Harless because Harless wouldn't let him up. This version of events differed from her trial testimony, where she claimed to remember little of the actual fight. Later, it was revealed that Flanders had been coached to change her story. Genzler, who had no criminal history prior to this incident, spent at least three years in prison. He subsequently sued Deputy District Attorney Peter Longanbach for prosecutorial misconduct related to false testimony from Sky Flanders, although the details of the settlement reached in 2006 were not disclosed. Here is Dusty Harless dead. You can see the picture of the wound and on the left you can see a full torso shot of his left side. |
