There's people on YouTube that showed how fast you can walk the bridge. It's not that hard to imagine a grown ass man walking fast across the bridge to catch up to 2 girls. The girls wouldn't have instantly suspected another person on the bridge until he got closer.

If you go to the YouTube channel Hidden True Crime and look up the video Delphi Trial Day 5: Inside the courtroom: Autopsy photos shown, at around the 30 minute mark, the reporter made very detailed drawings of their injuries. Abby’s are first. Libby’s drawings come in at about the 44 minute mark.
