Re: Death Pictures of 14 Year Old Emmett Till
A LOT of people don't know about this story. In some black families, Emmett's story was used as a cautionary tale to men/boys to be careful around white women. Sometimes white women would just go out with a black man to piss daddy and the family off, but if something went wrong (especially in the south)...the girl could say anything and be believed while the guy gets hanged/shot/mutilated and thrown in the river. A few years ago Ed Bradley on 60 minutes went down to Mississippi to do a story about Till, and he actually went to the woman's house. her son came out and told him to leave, and wasn't nice about it. The woman is supposedly in her 80's-90's now and not only she is the last surviving link to this, but she hasn't talked about it publicly since the trial. |

Re: Death Pictures of 14 Year Old Emmett Till
I am pretty sure these haven't been posted before, but I am very sorry if they have Emmett Louis Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955) was an African-American boy who was brutally murdered in Mississippi at the age of 14 after reportedly flirting with a white woman. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's him, though he looks like some 50+ years old man. The photos were published by The Chicago Defender and Jet magazine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Till ![]() Threads: http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...ph-1950s-9891/ http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...-1955-a-76625/ A higher res scan of the article |

Re: Death Pictures of 14 Year Old Emmett Till
beaten and thrown in a river (if I recall correctly) resulting in bloating and swelling...his mum decided not to have a closed casket or for the embalmers to "pretty" him up....she wanted people to see exactly what had happened to her poor son...brave woman
