I watched a documentary about this young man, he was from Chicago and went to Mississippi and was kidnapped and beaten horrifically and thrown in a river.

This is actually quite famous. He looks big because he was pulled from the water. His mother demanded an open casket funeral and publicity to hopefully prevent future events. Some say he hit on a white woman, but in reality, he had a bit of trouble speaking and whistled when nervous to get his thoughts together and likely did that and it was mistaken for a cat call. There is a movie about all this. Till, released in 2022. So yes, the photo goes with the story, he was 14, and yes, it was an open casket funeral with press. |

He came from Chicago to visit a relative at the wrong place in the wrong time. He and some family went to a store where a white woman said he had whistled at her. Fast forward he was kidnapped from the family home he was visiting, taken to a barn and beat, shot in the head and thrown in the river. His mother wanted everyone to see what was done to her son, is why the casket was open. Sad, his mother in an interview said: she was walking to view his body and she could smell him over a block away before arriving. My understanding is the woman eventually admitted that she lied about the child whistling at her.

Damn, this post really brought out the racists. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves, parroting the same nonsense that got those murderers acquitted at the original trial. BTW, Emmitt Till's body was exhumed in 2005 and DNA tested to confirm that it was indeed his body. Racist dumbasses.
