Just moments before his tragic death on New Year's Day, a local politician in the Philippines was in the midst of capturing a family photo. Little did he know, the snapshot would turn out to be a crucial piece of evidence. The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Councilman Reynaldo Dagsa's decision to snap a picture of his family as the New Year arrived inadvertently revealed a shocking scene: the assailant taking aim at him with a handgun.

This chilling photograph was taken right outside the councilman's residence in metropolitan Manila. Thanks to this photographic evidence, law enforcement made a significant breakthrough in the case. A man identified as the gunman in the picture was arrested Monday, and his accomplice was also arrested in a separate raid in Manila on the same day.

Police shed light on the background of the suspects, stating that "Chief Inspector Cresencio Galvez, Caloocan police intelligence chief, said the suspects were known car thieves who were out on bail. It is likely that they bear a grudge against Dagsa, who had them arrested last year, he said.
