Jeff Bauman is not in a coma - He's is breathing on his own now. I think the only reason he survived was the man in the cowboy hat was pinching his artery while racing with him in the wheelchair.

He went back into surgery last night at midnight for exploratory due to fluid in his abdomen. He came out at 2:30 and doctors informed us he was doing better. Ah, I didn't see an update to his condition so I had assumed. My bad. Even pinching an artery on one leg though, it's illogical. The other leg is gone too. Would it be possible for the blast to have also cauterized just enough to at least stem blood flow a bit?

Also went back to the pulse check photo. A white phone is laying under her hand. Which leads me to wonder - would you want to see it and see if she was trying to text something to you, like maybe to her parents saying I love you, or would you rather know the story as presented that she was unconscious at moment after the blast?

I'd think the second if I hadn't seen that photo and gif so knowing she was in pain and she thought to try and say that when she could would be better...

I highly doubt she or any of the severely injured were texting people right after it happened. Those who weren't injured were running from the scene to escape or running to help, not standing around texting people. I'm sure texting started once people got to a safe place a couple minutes later, but those who had limbs blown off were not thinking about texting or calling, they were in shock wondering what happened and where their body parts went to.
