I agree, your country and mine both need to stop blindly accepting what the media tells us. Plot holes are evident everywhere and the villain often turns out to be the good guy.

I do not have a problem with the media.

The problem is when things are reported in 'realtime,' nutters never consider the possibility that the news is reporting information as it is coming in. Then when the news corrects the latest information, nutters do not want to believe it.

Most horrific events are caused by simple senseless acts of violence. Nutters do not want to believe that, but it is true.

Its crazy to read how many of the survivors got their legs amputated. I was also shocked seing that picture of Campbell screaming while we know she died later.

The nurse who tried to revive Boston Marathon bombing victim Krystle Campbell wants her parents to know that her pain did not last long and that she did not die alone.

"I don't think she lingered. I don't think she suffered," said Nurse Stephen Segatore. "If it were my daughter, I would want to know that."

He told Campbell he would take care of her. She could not hear him.

As Segatore, who works at Tufts Medical Center's intensive care unit, gave Campbell CPR he noticed black marks, likely gunpowder, across her face, showing that she was close to the explosion.

A cardiac monitor signaled that her heart had ceased pumping blood.

"The physician called (her death)," he said. "The three of us who were working on her let out an expletive, a scream."

Campbell was the only person who died that day in his care. It haunts him. Now he wants to meet with her family.

"I want them to know she was not alone when she died," Segatore said. "We did everything we could to save her, but her wounds were too great."

I am very surprised there are hardly pictures from the 2nd explosion. It makes sense if you think about that 1st explosion was near the finish line and thats where it makes sense for photographers to stay to take pictures, but there should be at least some pictures from explosion #2.

One of the very first pics posted to this thread, and to the mainstream media, was the one where she's having her pulse checked, but the EMS worker. Granted, it's not 100% possible to tell without video, but, at the time, I was thinking that this was this one particular victim. After working 21 years, in EMS, I know a dead or dying body, when I see one.

Earlier today, I read an article on CNN about the nurse who helped perform CPR on her, in the emergency treatment tent.

I'm sorry, but I think that story was printed, solely for the girl's parents' benefit. First off imagine looking at an AP wire service site, and seeing a picture of your daughter, dead or dying, on it's front page. The EMS worker in the photo is performing a pulse check on Ms Campbell. She's performing a (VERY) quick triage, and could probably tell that she was unresponsive, and not breathing. Also, Ms. Campbell isn't making eye contact with anyone. By contrast, her friend, in the black, appears to be making eye contact with the EMS worker, who has her hand on the other victim's chest.

I didn't realize the extent of her lower extremity injuries, until I saw the pic later in this thread, that shows how extensive it is.

Anyway, the whole point to this, is that I was pretty shocked when I saw a photo, containing a dead person, front and center, displayed in the US media. Obviously, the news outlets didn't know she was already dead. Once it got around that "Oh shit, we ran pics of a dead Krystle Campbell on our front page", I'm sure there was some damage control . Then, I'm betting we have stories, like the one on CNN I read earlier, that have the nurse saying he "wanted to know Krystle didn't die alone. She had others with her", in order to afford some comfort (ANY comfort) to her family.

In the end, truth be told, death is can be quick or slow, or clean or messy, or any combination of the two. I wish the American media would stop holding the hand of the American citizens. Bad things do happen. The media should let everyone know!

The loons who are claiming there is proof of drills and such and who was there - again, I stress: The police doing bomb sweeps for safety are not going to go around telling people "Yeah, just looking around for bombs, don't mind us". That would easily create panic.

The "firsthand accounts" are NOT verified and it would never surprise me that Seals are there or even stationed on the roof. I stress again 500,000 people including 30,000 racers. You need not just police presence, nor do you just need a few national guard. You need security that could be ready at a seconds notice JUST FOR THIS REASON. It's the very reason "only" 3 people died. The same groups were there last year, and the year before and the year before. You can find a plethora of media stories that talk about how "safe" the event is since 9/11. Nowhere else can you find an event that encompasses nearly 30 miles, and so many spectators at once that can not be completely locked down and investigated. That alone is reason enough to station people on rooftops, sweeps, and guards. Mass shootings are the rage in the media - military and police presence makes people FEEL safe, even if they aren't. And frankly, even if there was some sort of conspiracy "mock drill" - that would divert resources yet somehow only 3 people died?

And I also have no problem that the might even be doing drills at the Marathon - again, where are you going to put together that environment? It still puts people on the scene that can help but is a training tool for others.

I agree. The reason why the media printed it is because initially she was reported alive. Her friend had something with Krystle's name on it. So they went to the hospital, talked to the doctors about making the decision to amputate, walked in the room and to their shock, it was not her but her friend. So they've experienced not one but two traumas already, why add onto it by telling everyone she was suffering right after? That photo of her screaming right after, and the other of her lifted up are pretty solid proof that not only was she suffering but that she did for at least 2-3 minutes.

Even should muslims prove blameless in this horror, they need to be kicked out of the country anyway, when possible, and precluded from entering. They've already done enough damage. Of all the nut religions out there, theirs is the worst. But the sappy U.S. government and society that is in love with all religion preaches and prays after these horrific events to put Band-Aid of "closure" in place. Get real and get rid of muslims and don't wait another minute. You don't have to be a muslim to be a psychopathic/homicidal/ vicious nut - but it helps.
