(CNN) -- Investigators racing to solve the fatal bombing at the Boston Marathon have made "significant progress" in the case but no arrests, a federal law enforcement source told CNN's John King.

The federal source and a Boston law enforcement official denied that any arrest had been made, despite previous reports that a suspect was in custody.

One federal law enforcement source told CNN that investigators had made "significant progress but no arrest... anyone who says 'arrest' is ahead of themselves."

A Boston law enforcement told CNN, "We got him," but won't clarify whether that means a suspect has been identified or arrested.

Some federal sources said it was even too early to say investigators had identified the suspect, but several sources in Boston told CNN that they have a clear identification.

now two law enforcement sources told USA TODAY no arrest had been made, although the Associated Press, CNN and Fox Boston had reported in early afternoon that a suspect had been taken into custody.

Fox Boston itself is now confirming that no arrest has been made (although the title of the article says "Reports: Arrest made in Marathon bombings")

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Despite a number of reports to the contrary, sources are saying that no arrest has been made in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings.

Earlier reports said that investigators had taken someone into custody and that they were bringing that suspect to a courthouse in Boston.

Sources said that a suspect was videotaped by a camera at Lord and Taylor and that investigators had made significant progress in the case. It was reported that the suspect could be seen on camera dropping a black bag.

The Boston Police Department had Tweeted that an arrest had not been made in the case. Other sources told FOX 25 that an arrest had not been made.

Photos from the Moakley Courthouse in South Boston as well as video from SkyFox showed a large crowd and a large police presence at the courthouse.

Due to the conflicting reports, FOX 25 was working to confirm whether or not an arrest had been made.
On Monday, terror displaced euphoria at the finish line of the Boston Marathon as two bombs, made from pressure cookers, detonated within seconds of each other.

Three people were killed and more than 170 were injured by the blasts as shrapnel tore through the crowd.

President Barack Obama branded the attack an act of terrorism. Obama plans to attend an interfaith service Thursday in the victims' honor in Boston.

Scores of victims of the Boston bombing remained in hospitals, many with grievous injuries. Doctors who treated the wounded corroborated reports that the bombs were packed with shrapnel intended to cause mayhem. In addition to the 5-year-old child, a 9-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy were among 17 victims listed in critical condition.

Over the past day and a half, there have been a number of press reports based on information from unofficial sources that has been inaccurate. Since these stories often have unintended consequences, we ask the media, particularly at this early stage of the investigation, to exercise caution and attempt to verify information through appropriate official channels before reporting.

Yes, it is: Moakley Federal Courthouse.
In the meantime, a bomb threat prompted evacuation at the courthouse, maybe that's the reason why the streaming was interrupted.

Breaking news on CBS, suspect was identified on CCTV leaving bag at second bomb site. Cell phone logs show he was using his phone at the second bomb site when the first bomb was detonated. He was wearing a black jacket, grey hoodie and backward-turned baseball cap.
