Re: Boston Marathon Explosion Pictures & Video

Why does this poor guy with his leg blown off look so spookily similar in appearance to amputee Lieutenant Nick Vogt who also had his legs blown off in Afghanisan in 2011?

I don't see any resemblance, other than both are white males.

Re: Boston Marathon Explosion Pictures & Video

Erm, dude? Jean Chrétien hasn't been Canada's Prime Minister in ages. Get your facts straight. Furthermore, if you would have done a bit of research, you would have found out that Chrétien did not support the Iraq war.
Chrétien was Prime Minister from 1993 to 2003. So he WAS responsible for sending troops to Iraq. And he wasn't the only one to take part in the operation although he was against it. Get your facts straight.

Re: Boston Marathon Explosion Pictures & Video

The entire content of my last post went missing, aside from the quote. And there is no 'edit' button so I can't go back and fix it. Very frustrating...

Re: Boston Marathon Explosion Pictures & Video

For those of you worried about the lack of care about the injured, I would look at the pics that have been posted, you will see that the most seriously injured were transported to ER's in order of priority. Take the red headed woman that somehow survived intact at GZ yet Jeff Bauman Jr. was above her and Krystal and her friend was next to her. There are pics showing her next to the seriously injured victims and then there are pics showing her still at GZ with those seriously injured removed. I think that the first responders did a fantastic job on treating those that were hurt the worst then they treated those that were less seriously injured next. Just like they were trained.

Very great point. It's called Triaging. It's done both in the field and in a hospital ER situation. I haven't read all 40 pages of comments yet to see if it's been brought up, but when something as disastrous as this happens, we Triage.

Everyone is given a quick assessment. Those with grievous and life-threatening wounds are identified and treated promptly. Those with significant wounds are treated next. Those with wounds that have been remotely stabilized are taken to the hospital after that.

People would be up in arms if someone with a minor wound (albeit a bloody one) that is stable in the field was removed and treated over someone who is missing an arm, in cardiac tamponade, or having a cerebral hemorrhage. Some severe and fatal wounds cannot clearly be seen through photographs.

These men and women (some of whom were just bystanders who stepped up) did the best they could to provide timely care to everyone that was affected by the blasts. The fact that they did so, in the face of another possible bomb occurring at any time, is heroic and admirable.

Re: Boston Marathon Explosion Pictures & Video

People have been identifying some interesting characters from photos prior to the explosions. I thought I'd share the ones I found from 4chan then as I was looking at the photos I thought I saw someone else who's backpack went missing but now I'm not so sure.

I went back and sorted the images of two guys (one with a backpack) who look Middle Eastern seemingly looking for a third guy who appears at ~13mins with a backpack.

I've labelled the photos I was looking through with times taken from the camera EXIF data starting from 00:07, clearly the times are wrong but they do provide a sequence at least.

The guy with the big shades and beanie is the one who I thought lost his backpack but on closer inspection, it seems he's still wearing it throughout this sequence.
