Re: Boeing 737 HELIOS Crash Scene in Greece
It's been done in light planes but it's pretty unlikely that someone with no training could safely land a 737. That said, some commercial aircraft are actually capable of landing themselves, so if an inexperienced pilot was able to line up with the runway, it's conceivable that the plane could successfully be landed. In this case the problem wasn't just that the pilots were incapacitated, though; everyone on board was. As far as I know, this is the biggest aircraft that has experienced this sort of incident. |

Re: Boeing 737 HELIOS Crash Scene in Greece
This is the kind of crash I would not want to do recovery at. Very rare that a crash like this would have such intact semi recognizable bodies. Like the poster above said, it is all about the angle and from what level the plane crashes.. I would think it would be easier to deal with unrecognizable body parts vs. this horror. Wow. May they rest in peace.. (And I must say I always found it interesting that the flight attendant was able to stay conscious and run to the front of the plane. There MUST have been someone else awake as well?
