This is why I don't enjoy flying. What a tragedy and all due to the flick of a switch.

Gotta love how most of 'em are strapped into their seats still. Strong seatbelts!

"The PMS mode was apparently not noted during the pre-departure checks by the crew"

Re: Boeing 737 HELIOS Crash Scene in Greece

Great post but Ive always said seatbelts are a waste of time on aircraft
oh yeah? wait till you hit a bump of turbulence at 550 kts and it sends you and your tray of food through the ceiling

Re: Boeing 737 HELIOS Crash Scene in Greece

Bonehead, no one expects them to allow you to survive something like that. But as nyazzip said....you better have them in bad turbulence, or on a hard landing, or a bad patch of weather. I had a 727 (yeah, Im old enough to remember the old 727) that dipped 8000 feet in like 15 seconds. Everyones trays (yes...food...back then you actually got decent food) went flying, purses, bags....and yes...about 4 people who didnt have their seatbelts on. It was kinda humorous. If I wasn't experiencing the single greatest moment of terror in my life, I might have even laughed. I never take mine off in a plane anymore. Ever.
