The lips are like that due to dehydration of the muscles around the mouth. Same with the eyes.

Why is it that an archealogist is a scientist but a gravedigger is crimminal? They both steal.........but one documents the other don't!

Re: Bodies From The Franklin Expedition in 1845
Well folks, according to PBS's NOVA, the deaths of these guys was very mysterious. They were landlocked in bumfuck artic Canada or thereabouts and after a spell left their ship carrying pianos and chiffarobes, big heavy stuff, but left many cans o' food on board. A quizzling factor as all starved to death, so in the late 80's or early 90's the Canadian government gave a couple of scientists very grudging permission, (and boy did those Canadian boys make those eggheads dance) to exume these bodies to see what clues could be had...clues there were-they died of lead poisoning. Apparently the first forays into the mass canning of food were not all entirely successful. Nigh on 20 years later I can still remember how I almost shat myself when they opened that first grave from the 1860's and blue eyes were looking straight at the camera...shiver me timbers.
