i read a while back that the captors shot bigley before beheading him as they felt some sympathy for the old man. Maybe that is why we don't actually see the beheading, just him being pushed down and then the aftermath. the actual cutting section seems strangely omitted. might be some truth to this theory...

I know its an old post, but this breaks my heart every time I see it; a friend of mine actually knew this guy, he lived not far from where I live in Liverpool, and my friend knew him :( Devastating. His family had to see these videos to verify it was Ken, for identification. Imagine having to see your father in that situation. So sad. I hope that its true that he was killed before he had to go through that horror, not that it makes it any less horrific; I know that Ken was able to engage in dialogue with his captors more than any of the other poor souls, so, I dont know, maybe his captors developed some sort of connection with him? and that why they were more "merciful" ?
