Alex Zanardi Crash Pictures
On September 15, 2001, Italian racing driver Alessandro "Alex" Zanardi experienced a horrific crash during the American Memorial, a CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams) race held at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany. This catastrophic accident resulted in the amputation of both of Zanardi's legs and marked a significant moment in motorsport safety and medical response. Zanardi, a former Formula One driver and a two-time CART champion, was competing in the race when the crash occurred. After pitting, he lost control of his Reynard-Honda car while merging back onto the track. His car spun into the path of oncoming vehicles, and he was hit by another competitor, Alex Tagliani, traveling at high speed. The impact was devastating, severing the front of Zanardi's car and causing life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical teams responded immediately, providing critical care at the scene before transporting Zanardi to the hospital. His life was saved through the rapid and expert medical attention he received, but the severity of his injuries necessitated the amputation of both legs above the knee. This isn't F1, it's Alex Zanardi's CART crash in 2001 at Lausitzring, Germany. The bits of flesh are from his legs which were both cut off above the knee. |

there was a good F1 crash from the 80's where a car crashed and old mate ran across the track to put out the flames with his extinguisher, enter another driver who hits him, double header, driver cops the fire extinguisher to the face and dies and old mate is in about 100 pieces around the place. Ill have a hunt for the vid
