Why We Wear Gear

Guy riding an RC51 in shorts, no shirt and a full face helmet, but he did have his dirtbike gloves on.

Crash at ~45s then he rides home and shows us his wounds around the 11 minute mark.

Re: Why We Wear Gear

skipped through from crash to aftermath and yea this is a good example that simple accidents can happen and you always have to wear protective clothing to prevent these nasty road rash injuries

Re: Why We Wear Gear

I can't tell why he lowsided.

Didn't look like there was gravel on the road
- maybe oil or brake fluid on his tires?

Have another look. He's coming into that turn pretty hot, but he could have made the turn easily if he was an experienced rider.

Video description claims tire shine. Not sure if BS, but his head also never leaves from directly over the windscreen. I would say bad body positioning would be the cause of a problem. He should have had his body way off to the inside of the turn (right side in this case) to minimize the lean angle of the bike.

If you look at the video, he's not off at all. In fact, he's sitting up on the bike, so it has to lean even farther than if he was centered or leaning with the turn. The result of bad body positioning means increased lean angle, and possibly the bike will not handle as well as it could.

tl;dr

inexperience
tire shine
gravel lot
board shorts
sneakers
no shirt
cold tires
poor body position

........what could possibly go wrong?

I think you summed it up there to a tee
