Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
I remember watching the Barao Pickett fight live on free to air TV in Australia after being out after playing a gig, it was like 7am when it started and I was high as a kite. The way he took his back was amazing. I agree Season 5 of TUF was easily the best (could be biased) some of the fights were awesome. Yes it does include Penn V Pulver. ONE FC is actually looking decent, I hope they can snag some relevant fighters from SF Bellator and UFC. Miss soccer kicks. |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
I'll have to check out TUF if i see it, i rarely go out looking for specific DVDs, i tend to go into 2nd hand shops a lot and just see what's there, and grab the oldest ones available every time :) when i think of kicks to a downed opponent i always think of the way cro-cop would rush in with headkicks to downed opponents |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
I just listened to that. I understand Chael being a different fighter from Hendo and him training for Hendo not Chael, but I cannot for the life of me see how Chael could beat Jon Jones. Also, Dana has an interview on Fuel TV tonight where he is going to shift some of the blame to Hendo for not coming out about the injury when it happened.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
yeah I saw that, says hendo knew he was out 2 weeks before saying anything. I agree that hendo must take some blame but its jones that clamed he would never turn down a fight. Whats more claming he would fight chael! I agree I couldnt see chael winning it. Also I do think dana/zuffa has part of the blame. Im sure a worthy main event could have been found at the last min.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
Bottom line: injuries are a staple of the sport and therefore replacement fighters are too. The sport is much much bigger than a certain individual holding a certain belt at a certain moment in time. Turning down a fight because the other fighters fight style is a threat (admitted by jones in the interview) is not a champion move. Maybe jones wants to rewrite what it mean to be champ, good luck with that, but all his reasonings change nothing, I am glad however he was able to speak how he felt and not be smug about it all. |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
WTF would Jones do in a Pride GP? Win the first fight then demand too have a break until he studied his opponents moves? The origins of UFC was taking your skills into a cage and seeing who was the better man, Jones conceded he is NOT the better man by turning down the fight and for that he can never be considered the GOAT. Wish Dana would fuck him off to HW sooner then later... dudes a beast fighter but I cant stand him and there is plenty of HW match ups I would love to see him take. |
