Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
Most people generally have GSP as the pound for pound greatest mixed martial artist of all time. I'll try to make it simple for you to understand. 3 words: Level of Competition. The level of competition Silva or even Jones faced was nothing compared to what GSP went through. GSP was so dominant that he essentially went through three generations of talent. Prime Trigg, Prime Sherk, Prime Huges 3x, Prime Penn 2x, Prime Koscheck 2x, Prime Alves (who was a monster when he fought GSP), Prime Fitch, Prime Shields, Prime Condit, Prime Diaz, Prime Hendricks. A complete murderers row. GSP and fellow Canuck, Lennox Lewis had very similar careers in a sense that both fighters were undisputed world champions who convincingly cleared out their divisions. Both young and dominant, stopped early in careers by (McCall/Hughes). Both go on to avenge losses in dominating fashion for title. Both dominant champions get knocked out by massive underdogs in fights many thought they underestimated their opponents (Rahman/Serra). Both go on to completely dominate the rematch. Both became more cautious as a result of getting knocked out, and fought to their strengths. But both absolutely decimated their divisions before retiring. G.O.A.T.S |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
True. Total agree. The only thing wrong I don't like when watching him: he fights the clock and the judges, take no real risks into a fight, a little boring, but yeah, nothing to counter what you said. |
