Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

That explains why Ben Askren is the UFC champ...oh, wait.
I've never seen a Ben Askren fight. From what I hear he's a very good wrestler, but a one dimensional wrestler that wrestle fucks everyone. Guys like this would feast on fighters with weaker ground games and or take down defense but would get teed up on with guys whom can defend the double leg and smash him via superior stand up.

What year is this 1999?

Jon Jones Hit and Run
Arrest Warrant In the Works
... Victim Has Broken Arm

Officials in New Mexico say they are "currently working on an arrest warrant" for UFC superstar Jon Jones ... stemming from a hot and run crash Sunday morning.
We're told the victim -- a 20-year-old pregnant woman -- suffered a broken arm in the wreck ... and due to her injury, officials are "elevating" the potential charge against Jones to "felony leaving the scene of an accident."
As we previously reported, witnesses say they saw Jones run from the scene of the crime and jump a fence. Cops say they later found weed and a marijuana pipe in his car.
So far, no one has heard a peep from Jones -- including police.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Failure to remain or return to the scene of an accident in ABQ is a felony and may be liable for imprisonment up to five years. In addition, he will have a criminal record if found guilty.

I hope JJ realizes there's more to life than being really, really, really, ridiculously good at fighting.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

I read it was a misdemeanor, the fact that the pregnant women has a broken arm makes it a felony.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Only Jon Jones can take the title from Jon Jones.

The UFC has released a statement after stripping Jon Jones of his light heavyweight title and suspending him indefinitely.

UFC announced that it has suspended Jon Jones indefinitely and stripped him of the light heavyweight title as a result of violations of the organization’s Athlete Code of Conduct Policy. Jones was recently arrested in Albuquerque, N.M. on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury. As a result of the charge and other violations of the Athlete Code of Conduct Policy, the organization believes it is best to allow Jones time to focus on his pending legal matters.

UFC feels strongly that its athletes must uphold certain standards both in and out of the Octagon. While there is disappointment in the recent charges, the organization remains supportive of Jones as he works through the legal process.

With this decision, UFC has determined that No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson will now fight No. 3 contender Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

What is rationale of stripping Jones? What does it accomplish other than create a paper champion? Jon Jones and GSP are the best lhw and ww respectfully and are currently not fighting under the best organization. The UFC belts are becoming like the fake boxing belts now.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Smart move by UFC tbh. Going to look real bad if you keep Jones as your champ after this terrible press he is bringing them. Until he straightens his shit out he can come back and easily get his title back.
