Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
Yeah an obvious publicity stunt by Dana White. It sure would bring in a lot of money for UFC though. I looked at some of the great possible opponents he could have in the middleweight division and they are all practically black belts. He seems really out of his league.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
They are not going to throw him to the wolves. I think they'll try to build him up with lower tier fighters first. I have no problem with that. Crossover fights are fun. Art Jimmerson, Brock Lesnar, James Toney were all fun to watch. |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
I'm shocked no one is talking about how good Anthony Pettis really is. Pettis is the first to finish Melendez, first to finish Benson in UFC, first to TKO Cerrone, first to complete KO Joe Lauzon... And he's young. And he's pretty. And he's exciting as fuck. And he has a compelling story. And he's well spoken. And he has the greatest high reel clip ever. Pettis is on his way to becoming a huge star. |

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread
White said he has sacrificed more than anyone to build the UFC into the powerhouse it has become and that he's tired of athletes who don't want to "get with the program." Velasquez, one of the sport's rising stars, clearly is on the outs with White. White said Zinkin wanted standard language that is part of every UFC fighter's contract removed from Velasquez's deal. "Can you believe that?" White said. "Chuck Liddell has that language in his contract. Randy Couture has it. Anderson Silva has it. And Cain fucking Velasquez, with two fucking fights, wants us to change it for him? That's fucking nuts. He can get the fuck out." ~Dana White in 2008 |
