just read that bas rutten is in a new show in the states on a channel called fuel tv

Charismatic MMA legend gives advice on avoiding real-life dangers in new series

If you're a Bas Rutten fan, you're going to be spending your Tuesday night's tuned into Fuel TV this winter. The former UFC heavyweight champion and King of Pancrase is set to star in "Punk Payback."

In each half-hour episode, "El Guapo" will use surveillance footage from actual events such as carjackings and robberies to teach viewers techniques they can use if they ever find themselves in a similar situation. For longtime fans of the charismatic Dutch fighter, "Punk Payback" will evoke memories of Rutten's previous efforts to teach self-defense for similar situations.

The Bas Rutten's Lethal Street Fighting Self Defence video series is legendary and an obvious precursor to Fuel TV's new series. No word yet on whether Rutten will deliver a soundtrack of sound effects to the new series or if he'll stick firm to his stance that, "everybody underestimates the kick in the groin."

“You won’t see a show like this anywhere else on television,” says Bud Brutsman, CEO of Brentwood Communications International, Inc. (BCII) and Executive Producer. “Bas addresses some serious topics in this fast-paced series. But he’ll have fun with the situations as well.”

The first of the ten half-hour episodes debuts Wednesday, November 2 at 9:30PM ET/PT. Mark your calendars – you won't want to miss it.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Bas is a hell of a fighter and a colorful character. I enjoy his fight analysis on Inside Mma.

His liver shots are viscous

Bas like many others are small heavyweights in comparison to others fighters like Brock or Overeem. There is a huge gap between them. Having a cruiserweight division or a super hw division for the smaller heavies makes sense but you also have people say that the smaller hw's have the speed and stamina advantage over the bigger fighters.

There are so many cases where guys get eye poked, either intentional or unintentional and it contributes to a loss.
Ufc on fox card had an indecent where the ref didn't catch a headbutt and it ended up being scored a KO instead of a disqualification or No contest. Instant replay would clear things up on the spot. Fighters can still appeal to the athletic commission but it's well after the fact.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

i rememebr this delucia guy, he's the one who lost to royce gracie in ufc2, he'd challenged the gracies before that under the gracie challenge, apparently the gracie who fought him (i forget who) was told by his brother that the previous fight was too shjrt n told him to make it last so they could get a better video, they then spent time beating him. when royce gracie fought delucia at ufc2 you can see someone in the background shouting at royce to beak the arm and he doesnt let it go. you can see in the video of the fight one of the gracies in the background shouting at royce hehe,

supposedly the ref said he heard the arm pop when gracie didnt release the hold but delucia denied it in an interview

i do miss the open weight competitions, but i guess now adays everyone knows all about jiu jitsu so dont have that sorta advantage over bigger opponents like royce gracie did in the old days.

i find it disappointing when an accidental head butt or something like that causes a cut and then they stop the fight due to the and give the win to the person who caused the cut by an accidental or illegal move in the first place

Interview with Bas about the Golden Glory situation, really good read. When I read it I could imagine everything he said in his voice, haha.
