Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

so hes going up or calling it a day? I am a fan of tournaments but the super six was a let down and so was the strikeforce torn. IMO they shouldnt start at the semi's. They should have every WW they have on the books in it and it should be a public draw
that'd be good a bit like the K1 grand prix
which reminds me, cro-cop fought in a k-1 grand prix end of last year, gotta find this video.

edit: just had a look actually cro-cop returned to MMA in japan last month!!

Cro-Cop Return to MMA
On August 8, 2012 the news came that Filipović had said that he would like to return to MMA, and on December 31, 2012 he made his comeback against Shinichi Suzukawa at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2012 in Tokyo, Japan. He won the fight by submission due to an armbar at 1:18 of the first round.

Filipović is now expected to face former number #1 contender in UFC Pedro Rizzo on February 2, 2013 at Royal FC 1 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event had to be postponed to the second half of the year, due to the pending broadcast TV and place for the realization of the struggles.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

I think the guy in the first vid is the same guy who had a few pro wrestling matches with k1/mma fighters and tried to shoot on them only to then get destroyed josh Barnett and le banner IIRC. He did it to mark Coleman but he was to gassed to retaliate. Total scumbag

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

it does say something about that on his wikipedia

In 2010, Wakakirin, still using his sumo name returned to the ring as a professional wrestler, training in Antonio Inoki's Inoki Genome Federation (IGF) stable. His first match was on the IGF-13 card in December, when he defeated Mark Coleman by referee stop. The match was controversial, and Coleman's colleague, Phil Baroni accused Wakakirin of shooting on Coleman in what was supposed to be a worked match. He made his comments on this on the Nightmare of Battle website.

Wakakirin's next fight was scheduled for December 31 against Bob Sapp, but the match never took place as Sapp refused to leave his dressing room. He was also scheduled to face Kimbo Slice on February 5 in Fukuoka, but that fight never took place as Kimbo went down with an injury.
also says he used to be a sumo wrestler but he was fired in 2009 due to cannabis use & the cro cop fight was his first pro mma fight

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

The more I see Diaz counted out the better I feel about his chances. Reminds me of the Gomi, Penn, Zaromskis, Daley, Shamrock, Noons fights. None of those guys are anywhere near the fighter GSP is but Diaz lives for shit like this, keep fueling that fire.

As far as the move up to 185 goes I think he's making a mistake, he only has the Silva fight at 185, Silva is a terrible matchup for him, if he loses to Silva then what? He should make Silva meet him halfway, fight at a catch-weight then go back to / stay at 170 and let Rory move up.
