FBI File on Raymond A. Palmer and Other Worlds
This internal-security file concerns Raymond A. Palmer, editor of the science-fiction magazine Other Worlds, after a December 1952 letter to Walter Winchell alleged that the magazine carried Communist propaganda and 'peace at any price' editorials. FBI offices in New York and Chicago reviewed the allegation, searched bureau and local records, and examined the March 1953 issue of Other Worlds. The records identify the magazine's Evanston, Illinois publisher as Clark Publishing Company and list Palmer as its treasurer, alongside officers Curtis Fuller and Mary Margaret Fuller. The review found no identifiable derogatory information on Palmer or the publication and reported that the issue examined did not promote a peace-at-any-price or Soviet theme. FBI file number: 100-3490 | Documents span: 1952-1953 | Released in 1 part Names in this file: Raymond A. Palmer, Walter Winchell, Curtis Fuller, Mary Margaret Fuller, Bea Mahaffey, Malcolm Smith Subjects: internal security, science fiction magazines, Other Worlds, Communist propaganda allegations, publishing industry
