Re: FBI File on the Murder of Viola Liuzzo

Parts 10-17 of the file.

These parts contain FBI memoranda, teletypes, letterhead memoranda, and court-related records from April 21 through May 11, 1965, concerning the state prosecution of Collie Leroy Wilkins. They document defense subpoenas directed at FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, Gary Thomas Rowe, Rowe's wife, and other prospective witnesses, as well as efforts to prepare and transport Rowe's FBI payment receipts to Hayneville for possible use by the prosecution. The records also report Klan interest in locating Rowe, discuss precautions against a possible arrest of Rowe while testifying, and include material concerning the May 3 trial proceedings and the defense attorney Matt Murphy's actions.
