FBI File on the Death of John P. Wheeler III
This file concerns the FBI's assistance to Newark, Delaware Police in the homicide investigation of John P. Wheeler III, a former presidential aide and defense-industry consultant. Baltimore field-office records from February 2011 and January 2012 state that the Delaware Medical Examiner ruled Wheeler's death a homicide and describe review of surveillance footage, a possible taxi-cab lead, clothing evidence, and laboratory submissions. An FBI Laboratory hair-and-fiber report compares debris and clothing specimens with Wheeler's head and pubic hair samples and states that Wheeler could not be included as a possible source of certain hairs. The released material also includes 1983 records concerning television reporting and audit-related disputes involving the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
