FBI File on David Parker Ray Sex-Torture Prosecution
This file concerns David Parker Ray, the Elephant Butte, New Mexico man prosecuted on kidnapping and sexual-assault charges involving several alleged victims. The FBI's released material consists largely of 2000 newspaper clippings covering Ray's first trial, its July mistrial, and jury selection for a planned retrial in late November and January. The clippings report that police and the FBI searched Ray's trailer after a woman said she escaped, and that investigators found alleged torture devices and video cameras. A December 13, 2000 FBI FD-302 records an agent's brief jail contact with Ray, during which the agent gave him articles on sexual sadism and serial rape but did not question him about the charges. The file also includes coverage of co-defendant Cindy Hendy's upheld conviction after her guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with investigators. Documents span: 2000 | Released in 1 part Names in this file: David Parker Ray, Jim Yontz, Lee McMillian, Jeff Rein, Neil Mertz, Cindy Hendy, Ron Lopez, Clint Wellborn Subjects: kidnapping, sexual assault, criminal trial, FBI records, New Mexico
