This highly unusual specimen remained in the abdomen of a woman for 55 years. During this time, the mother had five additional uncomplicated pregnancies, enjoying good health throughout. She knew she carried the “bones” of a dead baby.
The specimen was obtained after death. Notice the right forearm and hand.

i watched a program on the learning channel about a woman with a similar thing. she didn't want hers taken out, but had to once her health started failing.

The stone baby grew in the abdominal cavity, probably from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, so she was able to carry the rest of her children in the uterus. The baby probably died close to term.
