the 3rd maybe an artwork not a photo from ww1 The axe behead picture is from ww2, Waffen SS troops behead a partisan with axe, you can see the SS collar tab on the uniform |

We look at these pics and are shocked and rightly so, but I always think that behind each dead soldier/civilian is a whole family who are devastated and will probably be emotionally scarred for the rest of their lives. When they say millions died, I always think that millions more are grieving, whichever side their dead relatives fought for.
