I think my point is very clear. The fact that the helmet in the picture was not standard issue does not prove that the individual in question was not an American. I am not saying im 100% sure he is an American just that I think it would be foolish to totaly dissmiss the notion based on the netting of the helmet.

an american soldier isnt gonnna wear another countries helmet. helmet is a far cry from a weapon.

yeah, i seem to remember hearing that the american's guns (AR15?) jammed so frequently that the vietcong refused to take the guns from dead american soldiers, prefering their AKs

M16a1 at that time. Why would the VC take American weapons? They had no logistic base to support the American weapon's ammo requirements or spare parts. Their AK47's on the other hand, had a fantastic combat record and great suppy routes from the USSR/China. Back to the pic, this looks like ARVN just by the helmet. US had OD covers while ARVN got leftover WWII helmets with netting. Also look at the lip of the helmet...ARVN.
