Sat In His Tank...Dead
APPARENTLY, the poor man in the picture is Julian Patrick from Kentucky, USA. He died in his Sherman tank when battling a Panzer V in Cologne on March 6 1945. This description also comes with this image so please forgive me for not being able to post the truth: "A view of a dead German sitting in a tank." Location: Cologne, Germany Date taken: March 1945 Photographer: George Silk · |

Re: Sat In His Tank...Dead
I couldnt help my self and figured it out. It's an m1a1 sherman tank and the dead guy is more likely to be poor Julian than some random german playing GTA. xD Awesome picture though :) big WW2 fantast! |

Re: Sat In His Tank...Dead
That hatch is on a Sherman. And the helmet is American as well. Thanks to this guy we're not all speaking German. ANd luckly he never saw what America has become today. I wonder if half those men would have made the ultimate sacrifice if they knew what this country would become. I bet you over 50% of American students couldn't tell you anything about WW2.

Re: Sat In His Tank...Dead
It is definitely an American and an M4 Sherman. However, the graphic illustrating a Panzer V "Panther" is incorrect. The photo at the bottom right is indeed a Panzer V, but the drawing on the left (even though labeled a Panzer V) depicts a Panzer IV, which is not even close to the excellence of a Panzer V. Also, note their wheels and track witdths. A Sherman stood a chance knocking out a Panzer IV, but up against a "Panther," not no much. Panzer V's et. al. were often taken out with air power.
