Re: Pictures From The Hartford Circus Fire
Great site and post! About Little Miss 1565: there's a great book out called "The Circus Fire" by Stewart O'Nan. According to the book, initially, investigators identified her as Eleanor Cook, and the remains were exhumed and then buried next to her family. But O'Nan points out that another of the unidentified bodies - which were not tested but should have been - is more likely to be Eleanor's body. Eleanor's mom, Mildred, had been seriously injured in the fire, and her relatives knew she'd been through too much trauma to try and identify "Little Miss 1565" as her own, if that was at all possible. In March of 1991, the state medical examiner issued a new death certificate for the girl as Eleanor Cook. But O'Nan wrote the dental charts didn't match, and that Eleanor wore a different dress to the circus. Also, Mildred Cook was reluctant to attend the new funeral services for her daughter. O'Nan says that it's because Mildred did not believe that 1565 was her child. At the end of the chapter (this book was published in June of 2001), O'Nan says that the state forensic lab was taking another look at the evidence. I haven't found anything else on the subject currently. Hope this helps -

Just so we're all clear - her head is still attached to her body...to this day.

Re: Pictures From The Hartford Circus Fire
Hearing Charles Nelson Reilly talk about it was much more disturbing than I thought it would be...
