Jesus Christ I hope he was dead as soon as he was hit, the thought of him suffering is heartbreaking. Apropos of nothing, did you know the last Japanese soldier from WWII did not surrender until around 1974? Hiroo Onoda hid out on one of the islands long after his comrades had returned home, fired at anyone he could hear approaching him to tell him that the war was over, and he dismissed all attempts to tell him that the war was over as American propaganda. They had to track down his former commanding officer, fly him to the island, and have him personally order him to stand down.  |
