Haaaaaa!! I used to do that after autopsy if the pathologist wanted to retain the heart. I connected the top major vessel to a plastic pipe that led to a pump containing formaldehyde. I then wrapped the exposed tissue in paper towel soaked in formalin and turned the pump on. Left overnight, the heart was perfectly preserved in it's original shape due to the fixative flowing through the vessels and four chambers. The heart could then be examined at a vascular level as well as structural. |
