Dresden, 1945
It seems pretty hard to discern the outlines. There are surprisingly many pictures if you Google for Dresden Bodies. Perhaps as the raid happened in grainy black and white Nazi times, the horror is freely available. Just thought I'd let us all know anyway. |

Re: Dresden, 1945
Here's a few more.... 25,000 civilians were killed over the 2 nights of bombing by allied forces. Bomber Harris, who organised the bombing raids, said after the event that he would do it all over again, knowing how many civilians were killed. |

Re: Dresden, 1945
Well, speaking of WW2 bombing. The Bombing of Tokyo killed at least 100,000 civilians, injured one million, left another million homeless in 2 nights as well. I doubt "Bombs Away" LeMay would hesitate to do it again at all. I don't think these Generals were taking it personal. Strategic bombing is very efficient for destroying morale and economic ability, specially during those days. Anything could end the war sooner would be a good idea, wouldn't it? Even though every civilian is innocent in principle, personally I do believe that the civilians live in the rest of the worlds are more innocent than those in the Axis. Some pictures of the "Bombing of Tokyo", seems these dudes were fried a bit deeper than those Germans. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Dresden, 1945
25 thousand killed is a very low estimate for a city that was chock full of refugees at that time from eastern Germany and elsewhere in Germany due to Russian pressure and allied bombing in other areas.Dresden was thought to be a safe area by German command for its historical buildings which turned out to be untrue sadly.as for the comment about degrees of burning s in Dresden as opposed to Hiroshima id say certain parts of Dresden were as bad we just haven't seen the pictures.people welded into the asphalt roads is pretty bad.

Re: Dresden, 1945
The bombing of London by the germans: 430 civilians were killed and 1600 seriously injured The victims of bombing Dresden: 22,700–25,000 deaths Slightly exaggerated revenge when the British declared war on the Germans |
