Re: Boy Accidently Locked Himself In Box

There was an advert by the UK government in the 1970's warning the dangers of disused fridges boxes ect with children playing hide and seek so clearly this shouldnt have happened *SARCASM*, but HEY good hiding place if it took 6 weeks to find him
You know something now that you mention this, there were a lot of similar public service campaigns during the 60's here in the states about kids getting locked into the old style locking refrigerators and suffocating making the case for door removal. You never see these old scare advertisements and booklets anymore that were so common. For a while they were everywhere from pamphlets to movies for kids to watch. Like the driver's education movies, many were staged acting interspersed with actual scene pictures to drive the point home. The ones for the kids weren't gruesome, usually just kids playing hide and go seek and nobody can find Jimmy until someone opens up a 'fridge in a trash pile and jimmy falls out. What a blast from the past.

Re: Boy Accidently Locked Himself In Box

It's not mold Chris, it's adipocere. It is formed by the slow hydrolysis of fats in decomposing material such as a human cadaver by action of anaerobic bacteria. The transformation of fats into adipocere occurs best in the absence of oxygen in cold and humid environment, such as in wet ground or mud at the bottom of a lake or a sealed casket, or in this case a box, and it can occur with both embalmed and untreated bodies. Corpses of infants, young children and overweight people are particularly prone to adipocere transformation.
